Temple Emanuel Preschool & Kindergarten

Temple Emanuel established the Temple Emanuel Preschool in 1971 to serve the community. Throughout the years, it has continued to be a leader in preschool education in the Denver metropolitan area. A committee comprised of parents of preschool children supports the full-time professional staff, helps establish policy and plans programs for the school. Jewish tradition places a high value on education. The spirit of this heritage rests at the heart of Temple Emanuel Preschool's philosophy.

Our Philosophy
Temple Emanuel Preschool exposes our children to the wonder of discovery and learning new things.  Ultimately the children will become their own teachers, seekers of knowledge and understanding on their own terms.  Our children will develop an essential sense of their own self-worth.  Through independence and curiosity our children will attain their own worthiness.  These concepts are developed by feeling valued, having a positive sense of Jewish identity, encouraging positive social awareness and interaction, encouraging creativity, and offering opportunities to develop gross motor, visual and auditory skills.

At the center of this intimate setting is a dedicated professional staff.  Teachers are well trained.  Curriculums are carefully planned.  Each staff member knows that the primary objective is to make the children feel that going to school is a natural and exciting experience and that there is nothing quite so wonderful as discovering something new.

Temple Emanuel Preschool and Kindergarten is licensed by the State of Colorado.

Our Curriculum

Developmental -Children learn at their own pace. Each child is respected and supported at each stage of development as they progress toward their own goals and potential.

Play-based – Play is a child’s natural progression towards learning and developing. Within a play-based environment, children develop socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually.

Child-directed –
Children learn best when they have control over some of their learning experiences. When activities are meaningful and relevant, children make choices regarding what materials they use and how they will use them. When children can control some of their learning they will become more motivated learners.

Teacher-supported – The teacher is primarily a facilitator enabling the child to learn from his or her own experience. The teacher prepares a nurturing environment with ample opportunities to explore.

Emergent Curriculum - We are presently working on creating an Emergent Curriculum in our classrooms where the children’s interests and ideas are freely explored. In this way, our children will be encouraged to make their own choices, explore their own ideas, and follow their own interests.

Integrated Curriculum – Our curriculum includes many facets in a preschool day which include arrival, routines, departures, well planned activities, and spontaneous play. Learning occurs in all areas of the classroom and is not an isolated event or activity.
